Description

*** This novella was previously found in the anthology, An Encounter at the Museum.

Tall, practical girls might not be worth much in man's world, but Miss Lisbeth Moreton knows she's worth more than the squire's prized heifer. To change her fate, she's run off to a date with destiny at the British Museum.

Her would-be swain never shows, but an unexpected encounter with Lord Cotwell and his lonely ward might lead to altogether new prospects . . . and perhaps to love.

  • Sweet story

The “h”, Lisbeth, has been unloved and undervalued...though she's worked for most of her young life in efforts to be accepted. The “H” , Lord Cotwell, is emotionally wounded and has like Lisbeth has been made to feel unlovable. She runs away from her selfish mother and stepfather when he decides to trade her to a squire for a prized bull. There she meets the little girl and becomes her governess. Her genuine care and understanding for both Lord Cotwell and his young ward, who has lost her beloved parents, open them all to a chance to heal and love. The story is well written and I could not put it down until I finished it.

This was a good book and I wish I’d read it before the rest of the series. It can be read as a standalone book but I always love to read a series in order.
