The new novel from New York Times bestseller Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River and Shutter Island

“Lehane is the master of complex human characters thrust into suspenseful, page-turning situations.” —Gillian Flynn

Since We Fell follows Rachel Childs, a former journalist who, after an on-air mental breakdown, now lives as a virtual shut-in. In all other respects, however, she enjoys an ideal life with an ideal husband. Until a chance encounter on a rainy afternoon causes that ideal life to fray. As does Rachel’s marriage. As does Rachel herself. Sucked into a conspiracy thick with deception, violence, and possibly madness, Rachel must find the strength within herself to conquer unimaginable fears and mind-altering truths. By turns heart- breaking, suspenseful, romantic, and sophisticated, Since We Fell is a novel of profound psychological insight and tension. It is Dennis Lehane at his very best.

Haya is not a Japanese name. That is all.

Only about 30% into the book and at this point I still have zero clue what the plot is about, where is this story going, and why all the pointless details???!!! I prefer to finish books I start but I simply can’t with this one. When you find yourself just skipping pages simply to get the actual substance of the book it’s time to call it quits. Don’t bother with this one.

Could not put this book down. I was captivated by Rachel’s quest to find her father and ultimately in finding herself. Through all the twists and dark turns I was continually left guessing and pleasantly surprised by the unfolding story and conclusions that Rachel’s journey led her to. Highly recommended

I agree with many of the other reviewers. I have read all of Lehane’s books and love him as a writer. However I just couldn’t get into this book. It is taking so long for the storyline to develop. I am about a third of the way through the book and just can’t finish it. So disappointing but I am confident his next book will be on par with all of his previous.

This book was a boring disappointment. The story takes forever to get to the point and there is no ending. It just stops! Don’t bother.

If the author had dropped the pretense of this book being a work of literature and concentrated on making it what it turned out to be, I would have enjoyed it.
