Description

Included in this extensive volume are the collected stories and novels of Robert E. Howard, the author who fathered the sword and sorcery genre and helped create modern fantasy and horror!

Starting off as a writer of pulp fiction, Howard rose to become one of the most influential fantasy writers of his generation. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (also known as Conan the Cimmerian) and Kull of Atlantis stories spawned the sword and sorcery genre along with many numerous subsequent fantastic tales and films.

Howard’s classic tales often centered around exotic themes and locales, pitting a powerful hero against incredible odds. Writing more than just sword and sorcery fiction, Howard’s stories spanned many genres with works including westerns, action-adventure, horror, humor, sports (particularly boxing), detective fiction, and steamy romances.

Howard’s diverse works have captured the imaginations of generations with the influence of Conan the Barbarian compared to such icons as Tarzan of the Apes, Count Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, and James Bond.

Included in this extensive collection are numerous short stories, Howard's two novels, and collected fiction organized by central characters covering all of the fiction published during Howard’s lifetime. This body of work covers over 3,500 pages of text and 1.25 million words.
