  • Not much of a mystery

It feels like a mystery as you are reading it, but in the end it’s not much of a mystery. Just about untruthful people who mess up other people’s lives.
  • Slow burn, unexpectedly good ending.

Long is subjective, obviously. This was just a massive slow burn for me. The last 3 chapters had all the juice, all the substance. Not to mention the slew of grammatical errors. Lisa Unger if you ever read this comment, please fire your editor. They are not your friend.
  • 20th book, sappy, predictable rubbish

This is the fifth of her books that I’ve read, and apparently her 20th. I wish I could go back in time and choose another author because this one is creatively tapped out. A ridiculous plot, filled with psychobabble, everything tied up in a not so perfect, perfect bow ending. And for goodness sake, can the editors at least help this author stop using the word Birdsong over and over again in every book? Pass on this junk. The author needs a trip or a break from writing and come up with something authentic and less faux smarmy.
  • Interesting

There were a lot of plot, twists and turns in this book, and while I was at times confused, I wanted to keep on reading. I also really like the theme of this book – what makes a family?
  • Terrible writing.

Would not recommend spending any time or money on this book.
  • Twisty but not terribly taut

The setting and plot are ok but the characters, some of them, feel have fleshed out.

Ridiculous book. Confusing at times, irritating at others.
