Description

Knives Out and Clue meet Agatha Christie and The Thursday Murder Club in this “utterly original” (Jane Harper), “not to be missed” (Karin Slaughter), fiendishly clever blend of classic and modern murder mystery.

“A witty twist on classic whodunits… Stevenson not only 'plays fair,' he plays the mystery game very, very well.” -- Maureen Corrigan, Washington Post

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.

I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.

Who was it?

Let’s get started.

EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE

My brother

My stepsister

My wife

My father

My mother

My sister-in-law

My uncle

My stepfather

My aunt

So drawn out, so boring. Very misleading and straight up lies to the reader, doesn’t even explain the biggest mystery in the whole book. I laughed out loud at how ridiculous it was. None of the characters are interesting and I’m glad to be done with it.

loved this book! it is truly an entertaining read. the premise, the structure of the plot and the narrator really made it fun to read. loved the witty and dark humor. there’s plenty of hints throughout the novel, and you can probably piece it all together, but it all comes together at the end very nicely.

I feel this is the best mystery I have read in years. Sadly, I have been lulled into lesser puzzles and was off my game for this one. Wonderful use of words.

I’m human. I got sucked in by the title. It’s obvious this was written to be seen, and they said at the end it was going to be on HBO. Probably will be fine for TV. There were too many plot holes, bait and switches, and some things just didn’t make sense. For a mystery, it is supposed to make sense. I know it can be hard to write a mystery but this was a lot of flash with tendrils of substance.

This was my first murder mystery book and I must say I think I’m hooked! Loved Stevenson’s writing style. It was flawlessly casual and the continuous break of the fourth wall made me feel like I was an actual participant. Loved his sarcastic and satirical tone; found myself chuckling along with him a couple times. He weaved everyone’s story and created a fun and engaging mystery that honestly kept at the edge of my seat to the end. I could not put this down and that ending. I was just flabbergasted. I picked this book up for the title but I could not put it down because of the genius writing. Loved it. I am definitely recommending this one to everyone I know. Thank you Mariner Books and Netgalley for the advanced ebook copy.
