Description

A senseless slaughter leads Lucas Davenport down a twisted path in this thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the Minnesota town of Wayzata, an entire family has been killed—husband, wife, two kids, dogs. On the wall, in blood: “Were coming.” No apostrophe.

There’s something about the scene that tugs at Lucas’s cop instincts—it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen from Mexican drug gangs. But this is a seriously upscale town, the husband ran a modest software company, the wife dabbled in local politics. None of it seems to fit.

Until it does...

I have read all the last three of the Lucas Davenport series. I've enjoyed them a lot. After I read the other 3 I will read the Virgil Flowers series. John Stanford is a great author!

Book started out promising, but then just kind of meandered along painfully slowly. It culminated in a rather boring ending that left me raising my hands asking "did it seriously just end like that?" Wish I hadn't bought it. Probably won't try another of his books.

I had read several of Sandford's books a number of years ago. While I thought the story line here was intriguing, something about this book just didn't do it for me. Maybe it would hold more interest for readers who have followed the entire series, but having not done so, I felt left out. For first time readers of the series, I think you will be somewhat disappointed.

The book opened strongly but faltered throughout the second half of the story. Some items showed complex problems solved by over simplistic solutions.

Great story telling and ride from start to finish. Fun read. Enjoyed it.
  • Kind of slow for a Davenport story.

Kind of slow for a Davenport story. Although, a techie would love the computer fraud / theft aspect of it. A good read nonetheless, but not one of his better books, IMHO. Really can't wait for the next Virgil Flowers story,
