Description

The instant New York Times bestseller that BookTok is calling “absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G” (@hollylovesbooks1519) and “impossible to put down” (@kurryreads), from the author of Local Woman Missing and Just the Nicest Couple

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has remorse…

A terrible accident.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mom and working full time as an ICU nurse, when a patient named Caitlin arrives in her ward with a traumatic brain injury. They say she jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below.

A shocking revelation.

When a witness comes forward with new details about Caitlin’s fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was a crime committed? Did someone actually push Caitlin, and if so, who... and why?

No one is safe.

Meghan lets herself get close to Caitlin until she’s deeply entangled in the mystery surrounding her. Only when it’s too late, does she realize that she and her daughter could be the next victims...

“A tense, compelling thriller with completely gasp-worthy twists.” —Nita Prose, #1 bestselling author of The Maid

When the big twist came, I had to go to the beginning and see if I missed something! Sometimes I couldn’t read this at night! Literary Monsters are less scary during the day! Great page turner and looking forward to reading another by this author.

Absolutely hated the main character, Meghan. No redeeming qualities. Mystery was ok.

    Interesting
  • Slow at first

It didn’t pick up speed and become really interesting until the last third or so. The author took some liberties with the timeline quite a bit and I found it a bit predictable.
  • Binge Worthy.

I’m very picky when it comes to books and don’t typically like this sub-genre. With that said, this book is amazing. Don’t read anything on it . JUST READ IT.

The book was interesting enough that I wanted to finish it, but I think the plot was too ambitious and ended up just being messy, along with requiring the reader to suspend your disbelief to enjoy the story. Some of the misdirects were very heavy-handed, and the writing is way too wordy. I found myself wanting to skip over descriptions that were entirely too long. If you're looking for a casual read that has some fun twists, this isn't a terrible choice. It was still a fun read, despite my gripes with it.
