The purpose of this course is to reinforce nurses' knowledge and skills related to the care of patients with artificial airways and/or chest tubes in order to improve outcomes and patient quality of life. In addition, members of the public may use this course to enhance their personal knowledge of the subject matter presented.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
1. Outline the types and potential complications of artificial airways.
2. Discuss nursing management and patient education for patients with mechanical ventilation.
3. Describe available chest tubes and nursing care of patients who require them.
