Description

An instant #1 New York Times bestseller!
The global phenomenon by Callie Hart--a highly addicting enemies-to-lovers Romantasy with razor-sharp banter, heart-stopping action, and blistering hot romance.

Do not touch the sword. Do not turn the key. Do not open the gate.

Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses, or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember. In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone.

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed.

The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her. Death has a name. It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate. His past is murky. His attitude stinks. And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home.

Be careful of the deals you make, dear child. The devil is in the details...

I could not stop reading this. Once I started, I just kept going. This is such a twisting, messed up (in the best way) adventure. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I need it immediately. I don’t know how many books are meant to be in this series, but let’s just say I need them all. What a trip this book has been. I am so glad my best book friend recommended another winner.

Quicksilver is one book recommended by Booktok that lives up the hype in my opinion. I wasn’t sure when I was going to read it, but then an opportunity came in the form of a book club and I’m so glad that I took part in it. I was so excited to read Quicksilver that I preordered Brimstone before I even read chapter one. There is nothing like an enemies to lovers romance and boy did I eat it up. The main character Saeris Fane grew on me . Kingfisher intrigued me the moment he appeared with his shadows. The secondary characters and villains are really interesting and well fleshed out. Hart’s writing as a whole is really good . I enjoyed the world building and learning the lore. Saeris Fane and Kingfisher are a true example of enemies to lovers. When they fall for one another they fall hard. I was rooting for them the entire time. Spoilers were everywhere especially on certain social media platforms but I avoided them. Yes, that was really hard especially when the fan art started to pop up on my feed. Thank goodness because the third act pays off in a major way. Quicksilver by Callie Hart is a four star read for me out of 5.

I picked up this book after having a book hang-over from another series, and was not disappointed. By the end of the book, the first few chapters felt like a lifetime ago! The story starts off super strong with great writing and the plot moves really fast into the parts that you crave to read. Nothing feels too clichéd, and it’s easy to get to know the main character and her personality. The dialogue feels real, albeit modern at times, but smooth and natural. I laughed out loud and was fully entertained at times. The author builds an interesting world with an unexpected bigger picture that I did not expect. Overall this book feels familiar, but was exciting and enticing to read - I highly recommend!

The millions of TikTok videos saying to read this book have never been so right! The writing was so well done, the complexity of the characters filled your heart and every emotion was felt throughout from laughter to sadness. Not to mention the smut was perfectly placed and left you satisfied.
