Description

USA Today Bestseller Dannika Dark presents the first book in her most addictive urban fantasy series to date.

A world of magic so compelling that readers keep going back for more. Raven & Poe are wickedly fun in this Vampire romance!

Raven Black hunts evildoers for fun, but her vigilante justice isn't the only reason she's hiding from the law. Half Vampire, half Mage, she's spent years living as a rogue to stay alive. When a Russian Shifter offers her a job in his covert organization hunting outlaws, dignity and a respectable career are finally within her grasp. The catch? Her new partner is Christian Poe - a smug, handsome Vampire whom she'd rather stake than go on a stakeout with.

They're hot on the trail of a human killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. One misstep during her probationary period could jeopardize Raven's chance at redemption, and her partner would love nothing more than to see her fail. Will Raven find the courage to succeed, or will she give in to her dark nature?

Dark secrets, unexpected twists, and a blurred line between good and evil will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Crossbreed is a thrilling urban fantasy with morally grey characters, a slow burn, heart-pounding twists, and wicked banter.

Great start to a series. Kept me wanting more. Funny parts are always a good laugh. Some year shedding as well.

The writing is pretty good but the story is contradictory and confusing. I don’t understand why half the decisions get made the way they do. Recruiting people off the streets to join your super secret organization on a probationary basis but also introducing them to your entire organization and location seems illogical. Threatening to erase the memory of people who leave or are kicked out and then letting them wander off, possibly for good without this happening is illogical. I don’t know why Raven gets blamed for going “rouge” with her first scheme when she convinced two more senior members of the group to go with her. She didn’t force them to go and they neither tried to stop her nor suffered the same consequences she did. Everyone else a constantly trusting and then not trusting everyone else. She’s both “totally green” but has still managed to kill bad guys on her own for years. Many in the group go cowboy throughout the book but she’s the only one who isn’t supposed to. It’s unbelievable that some of the other members of the group were recruited mere months earlier. That doesn’t jibe with their rapport with each other or the references they make about each other’s habits and mannerisms. Still the writing is solid. I’ve definitely read worse. It just feels a little haphazard and maybe some more editing and attention to consistency would have been beneficial.

This is the second book I’ve read from Ms. Danika and I look forward to many more. Her main character, Raven, is both complex yet very compellingly believeable. Great thought-provoking read. Highly recommend 🤩🌟👍 JB

Keystone will tug on your heart while kicking in your adrenaline for a fight. The introduction of the Keystone crew to the Breed world was interesting and hear warming especially since I recognized some of the prior Breed characters that they interacted with but yet were never formally introduced in the book. The Keystone characters are well developed, believable, & likable. The storyline is interesting and attention grabbing. Looking forward to book 2.

Great start to an entertaining new series. Insinuation of new romantic interest between the female lead character, Raven, and Christian Poa (carried over from the Magieri series). Looking forward to see how this series develops.
  • Not really a romance

Although I loved her seven series. There doesn't seem to be much romance in this book. It insinuates but I am guessing this series is going to be one of those about the same girl throughout? For me. I really am not a fan of those type books. Which I hope that isn't what this is going to be because there are some interesting characters in this book. I would like hearing there stories as well but would like the romance to go with it.
