Description

“As the plot seizes us, the prose caresses us. . . [Finn] has not only captured, sympathetically, the interior life of a depressed person, but also written a riveting thriller that will keep you guessing to the very last sentence.” — Washington Post

The #1 bestseller that gripped the world, selling millions of copies around the globe – a tour-de-force Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.

It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .

Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.

Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble and its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

I love this book so much I can’t stop reading it. It is a real page turner. I can’t explain how much I love this book. The woman in the window is one of my favorite books by AJ FINN, and the only book I know by him. I would recommend that you guys read a book called the shining by Stephen king. That’s what my thoughts are but also after that book, I was recommended you guys read Doctor Strange the second book by Stephen king after the shining.

As good as the plot twist was, it took too long to get there. I understand the need for a build up but it was hard to stay interested up until much later in the book.

Only read if you truly love scary/disturbing books. Slow start and terrifying plot line. The whole book is honestly crazy so if you’re in to that, give it a read. I wanted to stop the entire time, but I finished it for my book club.

Painfully slow, it was an average suspense read but jeez, 100 pages in and nothing had happened
  • 4 stars but….

I’ll give it 4 stars.. the beginning was kinda slow but it was still good, the middle was really good! Kept me on my toes, I gasped a few times lol, but the ending was a little too dramatic (might not be the word I’m looking for) for me.. it felt like a script rather than a book. Still a good read and I’d recommend it Came back to add.. if your reading the book to watch the movie don’t waste your time.. the book was WAY better than the movie. The movie felt B rated and rushed and a waste of my time. Such a shame cause the book was pretty good

I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the book starts rather slow, but it really picks up momentum as it goes along. Kept me guessing and kept me intrigued. I will be looking forward to the next book by this author! Nevreader

I’ve had this book in my library for at least 2yrs and had started it multiple times but could never get into it like I wanted to, but, when the movie came out on Netflix, I was really determined to finish it before watching the movie. My difficulties with seeing it through was probably more of a “me” problem, however, I will say it definitely starts as a slow read, with a very slow buildup. The main character is flawed but you still find yourself rooting for her to not just be “the crazy old lady“. I would say the middle and ending parts of the book were pretty good. Some twists were thrown in: some I expected, others I did not. All together, it was an interesting read and I’m now looking forwards to seeing how the film adaptation measures against it.
