Description

“Intelligent and entertaining.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

“Even better than the first book.” —School Library Journal (starred review)

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times bestseller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

Humans learn from their mistakes. I cannot. I make no mistakes.

The Thunderhead is the perfect ruler of a perfect world, but it has no control over the scythedom. A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the “new order.” But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Old foes and new enemies converge, and as corruption within the Scythedom spreads, Rowan and Citra begin to lose hope. Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

If you have read Scythe, you have got to read this second master piece. It starts strong, then goes a little slower, then it hits you full force. You are in for an adventure you’ll remember your whole life. 10/10

I need to process the whirlwind of emotions I am currently experiencing after what I have just read. The ending was not what I expected (in a good way) and I did not think it would affect me as much as it did. It’s a slow buildup but it’s worth it as you get closer to the end.

Neal Shusterman has a unique mind that brings us stories with fresh insight and inspired stories. Thunderhead is a reminder of our reliance on technologies and the possible ramification of our relinquishment of though. Bravo.
  • Good...with some setbacks.

I loved the first book. I flew through it and couldn't wait for this one. Until I met Greyson. I found myself skipping down the page to get through his intolerable and boring storyline. The rest of the book was GREAT.

i’m a big reader, and nothing about this is memorable to me. it’s an enjoyable filler in your life for a week or two, but nothing in this book has consequence. Nothing here is special and is resoundingly plain when it comes to it’s half-attempt at engaging worldbuilding
