Description

USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts returns with a brand-new series set on the charming Washington coast

Once happily married, Jenna Jones is about to turn forty, and this year for her birthday—lucky her—she’s getting a divorce. She’s barely able to support herself and her teenage daughter, but now her deadbeat artist ex is hitting her up for spousal support…and then spending it on his “other” woman.

Still, as her mother always says, every storm brings a rainbow. And when she gets a very unexpected gift from her great-aunt Edie, things seem to be taking a turn for the better. Aging Aunt Edie is finding it difficult to keep up her business running The Driftwood Inn, so she invites Jenna to come live with her and run the place. It looks like Jenna’s financial problems are solved!

Or not. The town is a little more run-down than Jenna remembers, but that’s nothing compared to the ramshackle state of The Driftwood Inn. Aunt Edie is confident they can return it to its former glory, though Jenna feels like she’s jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the beach fire.

But who knows? With the help of her new friends and a couple of handsome citizens, perhaps that rainbow is on the horizon after all. Because, no matter what, life is always good at the beach.

Featuring all the warmth, romance and trademark humor of Sheila Roberts’s writing, this new series will delight longtime fans and welcome a generation of new readers.

  • A great start to a new series

Sheila Roberts has started another wonderful series, this time at the beach, Moonlight Harbor to be exact. I can almost smell the sea air, hear the seagulls overhead and feel the power of the waves as I read along. I love these new characters (friends) and look forward to getting to know them much better over this series. There is so much potential and so many relationships to explore. Jenna has been asked to help restore the Driftwood Inn belonging to her Aunt Edie, advanced in age, widowed, and no longer able to keep it going. Jenna arrives with her teenage daughter and discovers it's much worse than she even imagined. The biggest problem is there is not enough money to handle all the repairs needed to bring the inn up to par and make it profitable again. Added to Jenna's stress is a deadbeat ex-husband that she's having to pay spousal support to and not receiving any child support for their daughter. The daughter, Sabrina, hates the new location and everything about it. All she wants is to go back "home" and be with her father only unknown to her, he wants no part of dealing with a teenager. Jenna has her hands quite full! One of my favorite characters is Jolly Roger, a colorful parrot with a saucy mouth and quips to fit every occasion. And when a stray cat gets in the house accidentally....look out! This author has a way with the written word, and lots of characterization interspersed with great humor. Need a vacation? Come to Moonlight Harbor and kick up a little beach sand and meet great people. I received a complimentary copy of this novel but was not required to write a review.
  • NEW SERIES by Sheila Roberts!

Sheila has another hit here -- and we're so lucky to get to start a new series of books by such a talented and imaginative author. I have read everything by Ms. Roberts and truly love her writing style and fun stories. She creates believable characters who are colorful, funny, and interesting to get to know. In this particular book, Jenna is about to be divorced from her no-good husband. They have a daughter together, and Jenna is trying to protect her daughter from knowing just how bad her father is. Jenna and her daughter move to a beach town where her aunt has a run-down motel, with the intention of helping her elderly aunt get the motel cleaned up and ready for new guests. It's more of a project than Jenna anticipates, and the rest you'll have to read for yourself! As usual, there are some handsome young men in the story, lending some intrigue and to spice things up a bit. Nothing racy, just fun to read about real people with real situations. Can't wait for the next book in this new series.

Welcome to Moonlight Harbor by Sheila Roberts I wasn’t sure that Sheila Roberts could top her last series of Icicle Falls but after reading the first book in her new series…no problem! The beach setting, the characters (Jenna, Sabrina, Aunt Edie, Pete, Seth, Brody, and so many more) are so fascinating, each and every one of them in their own way, and of course the Driftwood Inn, which actually ties the whole story together. I read a lot of authors, but I am truly in love with the writings of Sheila Roberts. She knows how to tell a story from beginning to end. Welcome to Moonlight Harbor hooked me in on page one and I hated to put the book down when the reality of my life called on me. You can’t go wrong with this book. It tells a great story, really brings the characters to life and now has me hanging on impatiently until book two comes out in this series. Enjoy this read, as I know you will! Patricia Greco
