Description

Fall for the steamy friends-to-lovers romance, perfect for fans of Lauren Asher, Hannah Grace, and Tessa Bailey!

Sawyer Landry is sexy, rugged, charming… and did I mention sexy? Back in college, we were best of friends - which meant  I secretly hid an epic unrequited crush, while he dated every other girl on campus… and then told me all about it the morning after.

Now I’m back in Chicago for the first time in years, and Sawyer is determined to rekindle our friendship. I swore, I wouldn’t put my life (and heart) on hold for him again, but just one look at his handsome face and I know, he’s still the only man for me.

But this time, things are going to be different. No more sitting around, waiting for him to realize his dream woman is right in front of him. No, I’m going to make him see, I’m not just one of the guys anymore.

But can I really go from sidekick to soulmate? And will this playboy bachelor realize, true love is waiting - if he’d only take a chance?

Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review Rascals Bar co-owner Sawyer gets the book boyfriend treatment in Soulmate, Katie McCoy’s fourth entry in the Rascals series. This second-chance romance reunites Sawyer and college gal-pal Gabi and chronicles their journey to happily ever after. Previously ghosted by Gabi following a significant college friendship, Sawyer is committed to rekindling their friendship when he bumps into her at a busy Chicago intersection. Gabi is less sure about picking up where she and Sawyer left off, though. Her feelings for Sawyer had gone unrequited for years, and this was catalyst for both her post-college disappearing act and her current hesitation. Once on board with a reunion, the relationship between Sawyer and Gabi quickly escalates from friends to friends-with-benefits to two people with conflicting emotions at odds with each other. Gabi is convinced that suppressing her emotions and avoiding any talk of a committed relationship is the best way to counteract Sawyer’s resistance. She agrees to a casual relationship in hopes that her patience will be rewarded. Unfortunately, in the process, Gabi tends to be borderline manipulative, which as a reader, I found to be somewhat off-putting. Obviously, Gabi and Sawyer get their happy ending after some heartache and strife separates them. Sawyer comes to understand that love is not the impetus for heartbreak and unhappiness, as he once mistakenly believed. He realizes how much he wants to share his life with Gabi and how important a role she plays in his life—how she enhances his joy and contributes to everything he does. Soulmate has a fairly predictable plot, and much like its predecessors in the series, is formulaic in its execution. But, in spite of that, it’s still a highly successful and extremely enjoyable romance romp. Katie McCoy has a tendency to create some of the most charming book boyfriends, and Sawyer is no exception. Ultimately, Soulmate is another solid installment in the Rascals series.

Soulmate by Katie McCoy is book four in the Rascals series and a standalone but I highly recommend reading the entire series which is full of fun and sexiness! Gabi and Sawyer were college best friends but Gabi left in desperate need of a fresh start. And the fact that Sawyer looked at everyone but her for something more. But now, Gabi’s back in town and is ready to avoid Sawyer at all costs and keep living her life. Gabi just doesn’t know that Sawyer isn’t about to let her slip through his fingers again. I loved everything about the relationship between Gabi and Sawyer. Sexy, emotional, real and just like a couple you would hang out with. Gabi knows what she wants and goes for it. And that was one hell of a grand gesture to win her back ;) Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in the series!

Soulmate is the fourth book in the Rascals series by the very talented, Katie McCoy. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the series. It’s full of sexiness, sweetness, and swoon. I have been waiting for Sawyer’s story and it was totally worth the wait. Five years. It’s been five years since Gabi ghosted her college best friend, Sawyer on Graduation night. She had to move from Chicago to DC to get a fresh start. She could not go another night of him looking at her like a friend while he was on the prowl for a one night stand. Her heart could not take it so she ran. Now, she was back and she was prepared. She was going to avoid him. That was the plan anyway until she saw him. Looking even better than before. Sawyer can’t believe Gabi was back. He missed her. Her friendship meant the world to him in college. She was the only girl he could talk to about well, anything. She was feisty from the moment he met her. She wasn’t like the other girls. She wasn’t fake. She wore baggy clothes and kept her nose in a book. They had the best friendship until she disappeared. He found out later she moved to DC but he let her go. But now that she was back he wasn’t going to let her go again. Sawyer never saw Gabi. She was now determined to make him see her. She has changed over the years. She wasn’t a tomboy. She found fashion. She found herself. A bada- woman with needs. Needs she knows Sawyer could satisfy if he saw her. Not just as a friend. She knew it wouldn’t be easy. He was scared of commitment. If he knew the feelings she had for him, he would run. But maybe just maybe, he will think she is worth the risk. I loved this one! The whole series really. They just keep getting better and better. Sexier and sexier. More and more emotional. I liked Sawyer in the previous books but I fell completely in this one. And Gabi. I love her! She knows what she wants and goes for it. She knows Sawyer. The ways to make him tick. His cues. I felt like I was right there with them in the room. They are real. Raw. Sexy. Overall...it’s one of my faves of the series! The characters are fantastic. The writing is addicting. The story is real. I can’t wait for the next book. Dante is in so much trouble! Quotes: I was head-over-heels in love with him, but he just didn’t feel the same. Not even close. He didn’t see me. “Don’t worry,” I said softly. “I’ll be gentle. I promise.” He looked at me for a long moment, and I swear, I almost combusted. “Are you just going to stand there staring or are you going to do something about that?”
