This series was an awesome read with plenty of twists and turns. There were a few moments that were easy to see coming but overall it was well written and kept things exciting and moving at a good pace. My only complain is that it ends clearly hinting at a fourth book which never came, but if it ever does I’ll be happy to pick it up. This collection starts off with a few short stories back to back before the actual series starts, so don’t worry if it seems odd that you keep getting a description of Mathias and Streng since it’s just a product of the structuring of the omnibus. The short stories do a great job of introducing you to the characters and take place prior to the events of the series, which happens over a continuous chunk of time, so they’re definitely worth reading before jumping into the first book.
