Description

A prisoner of war. A guard with a conscience. A forbidden love that could cost them everything.

From the bestselling author of Love and Resistance in World War Two, Marion Kummerow, comes a harrowing historical fiction novel based on true events about forbidden love and survival under the Nazi regime.

Ursula Hermann is a simple woman who longs for the end of the war and the return of her husband from the Russian front. But fate has other plans for her.

She is ordered to guard a prison for the enemies of the Reich, where she encounters Tom Westlake, a Royal Air Force pilot who has broken free from his chains. Ursula defies her duty and lets him go, risking her own life for a stranger.

When Tom returns, wounded and in need of her help, Ursula looks the other way, risking her own life for a stranger.

In a world where right and wrong have lost their meaning, Ursula must make a choice: obey the fatherland, or listen to her conscience.

Inspired by true historical events, War Girl Ursula is the unforgettable story of one young woman's moral courage in the face of unspeakable suffering.

Praise for War Girl Ursula:

"What an amazing story. I literally couldn't put it down. My only complaint is the story ended way too soon. I need to know what happens! Well done!" - Goodreads Reviewer

"Excellent read! I didn't want to put it down." - Goodreads Reviewer

"This book is a great reflection of what happens when you ignore your moral compass because of blind loyalty. Ursulas journey reminds me of a quote I once read that stated "I love my country it's the government I'm afraid of."- Goodreads Reviewer

Written in a style that you feel like your actually present as the drama unfolds, a very good read that will hold your attention till the very end.

What hell for the Germans during the war. Hitler was a sick SOB.

The book was well written and the characters were developed well. What I object to is the fact that it was not portrayed as a book without a real ending, and you are told to read (and buy) another book to see what happens to these characters. I would never have read it in the first place if I knew that that was the case! Please include that information in your books that you post. P Fallesen

Simple and not particularly exciting. Took me over a mont to finish as it had nothing to draw me back, and I read over 10 books a month. Also, it ends abruptly, with no real resolution, as they want you to buy the next book.

The extermination of the Jews and everyone considered expendable by Hitler is a horrible historical event. The description of the prisons and prisoners sounded unfortunate but not horrible. The nosy neighbor would never have given up so easily. The story is to simplistic to do justice to what really happened. Sorry, G

Not well written or researched. Pretty much a love story by Hogan’s Heroes. This author should have done real research before she wrote this drivel. Ex. A British POW who was kept at the local jail (not a POW camp), escapes with assistance from a beautiful Christian prison guard. When the Gestapo come to her apartment for the escapee, they are distracted by the “guard” and her sister batting their eyelashes and showing a little cleavage. BLECH!!! Glad I didn’t pay for it.
