Imagine your favorite teachers from high school are dying, being mysteriously murdered one by one soon after the arrival of the new English instructor...

Mackenzie August is starting a new life. After a successful but destructive career as a high-profile California homicide detective, and then a less successful and even more destructive stint working for a church, he has moved to Virginia to start over as an instructor. The only thing he's bringing with him is Kix, his infant baby boy. He plans for peaceful living with his son, but trouble soon finds him as his new co-workers begin showing up dead outside of his classroom.

I was hooked by the first chapter. Fast paced, engaging, and with a crazy sense of humor thrown in to lighten the mood. I throughly enjoyed the author’s style. I had it finished in two sittings. Great writing, I can’t wait to read the next book, and the one after that, and so on….

It was a overall great read. Very easy and enjoyable I loved the main character very funny and charismatic, I wish I had a whole story on his past. The end was just a little anti-climatic. But id recommend it 👍

A great group of characters. Rarely has such a broad cast been fleshed out so well.

Likable main character, masculine w/out overdoing the personality, and not heading for the gutter with explicit scenes. Like how the character is growing and maturing rather than being a skirt chaser with no values. Very different and uplifting storyline of his woundedness. Really like how the witty humor keeps it from getting self destructive or heading down the typical path of main characters. Like the journey this character seems to be on, it’s real without getting too raw. Terrific humor from various characters.
  • First time to read this author. Will NOT be my last!

Mr Lee’s writing style is unlike any I’ve read before. I loved it! The plot was great & in the midst of all that would be going on at any given time, I would laugh out loud at the things “Mack” would say…or think. Absolutely hilarious…& clever. I will definitely be following this author. Kat V
