In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s genre-defying tour de force.

A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever—and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

3.5 stars! This was cute, but that’s really all I can say about it. A bit of a slow burn that I have to admit I struggled with at times. I could have just been a tad outside of my comfort zone as someone who lives in the thriller genre. I guess I wanted just a bit more edginess, a little bit more punch. I was happy with the ending and that made me bump it up a bit. I can’t say it would be my #1 recommendation if someone asked, but did find it to be a fun, enjoyable read.

Give me a few months and I’ll be reading this again in hopes of experiencing the same emotions I felt the first time reading. A secret masterpiece I will forever hold dearly.

I don’t think there’s ever been a story that captivated me so much that I would finish the whole thing in a single day. I happened to see a recommendation on tiktok and decided to read the sample and I could not put it down. It’s now midnight and I started reading earlier in the day close to noon. I did not stop reading. I can’t say how much I loved this book, I’m not good with words. But I have an awful attention span. Yet somehow this book had my full attention for hours. Absolutely amazing read. Thanks so much to the author.

It did take me a little time to get into the story but once I did - I was hooked. I was hooked on the journey through time. I was hooked on the characters and the connection I felt to them. I was anxious with them and overwhelmed with emotions as the story unfolded at the end. I would highly recommend this read for a journey of appreciating where you are in life and who you have with you on this wild ride.

i rate this book a solid 3.5 stars. the writing was beautiful and the plot was so good, i just found it to be slow and hard to get into. i think i finished it in around ten days, which is pretty good for such a dense book (dense is a good word to describe it). i definitely recommend, the romance was so sweet, and the end made me go explain the whole book to my mom and plead for a second!

It took a few chapters to get the whole story but when I did I couldn’t wait to see what happened to Adeline. Supernatural devil take over soul type story.
