Description

This is insane. This human—beautiful though she may be—can’t be my mate.
I learned the hard way what it's like to lose people you love.
As an alpha, I vowed never to let that happen again.
That means keeping my focus. Never letting my guard down.
And, most of all, staying away from civilians - i.e. humans.
But the feisty chocolatier has me breaking my own rules.
The beautiful female tests my patience... and all my control.
I should stay away. I can't protect the pack if I succumb to my desires.
But what if this is more than desire?
What if Fate matched me with this human, and she's my mate
If I don't claim her, I'll lose it all in the worst possible way.

Oh my gosh! This book was amazing! I love the characters! Two alphas, neither willing to back down, but both willing to fight, just phenomenal! The authors added another emotional layer to their writing with this book. The ups and downs kept me glued to my ereader until the very last page, and I absolutely loved the added aspect of the intrigue they run into. This might just be my new favorite book of the series, but I can’t wait to read the next one, just to be sure.
  • Good, but not great.

I was looking for a good book that had an alpha male and a steamy relationship, but I wish it wasn’t so “on edge”. I liked it, but the whole story has the main character ready to punch someone at any given minute so the part that I assume was the climax (where she needs saving and of course he saves her) isn’t even really a climax. I love that he wants her safe, but the good feelings a reader gets from “hero saving the girl” are from the build up. There has to be that base of a relationship first. There has to be something worth fighting for, not just wolf instincts and drive. I haven’t read a shifter book before, so that was interesting and not bad, actually. I do appreciate that the characters are easy to remember and there are not too many of them. They are introduced appropriately and have their main parts. For an afternoon read, it was good. It’s not something great, or worth a re-read since the story line is only about three different main scenes. Not to mention that the F word is thrown around so much that I could probably do without that too.
