Description

In a Victorian city teeming with magic, a young man with extraordinary gifts must fight for his soul against demons determined to claim it. Adventure, love, and revenge await in this gripping and imaginative tale.

Two days ago, Jack Siran's biggest worries were dodging his arranged marriage and scheming to seduce his magical rival, the enigmatic Lord Silver.

But when Lord Silver finally appears, he brings more than temptation. He unleashes a demon that slaughters everyone in its path and burns Jack's estate to the ground. And now, the demon wants Jack.

Outmatched by the infernal beast and its cunning master, Jack is forced to make an unthinkable choice: sell his soul to Fire, a notorious lady demon, in exchange for her lethal power and protection. Or lose everyone and everything he cares about.

Jack and the Fire Eater is a standalone novel perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers romance, high-stakes revenge, morally gray anti-heroes, and dazzling magic. Come for the dashing rogues; stay for the mild spice and unforgettable friendships!

Jack, 22, enjoyed life. He had close friends who always had his back. They thoroughly looked forward to their get togethers, especially at the bar where Jack and his crush, Lord Silver, battled in magic to the enjoyment of the crowd. But this enjoyment came to an abrupt end when demons entered Jack’s world and hurt those he loved. Jack set out to right the wrongs he thought he caused by his magic and willingly offered the demons whatever they wanted. As usual with a Kory M. Shrum novel, it engaged the reader from beginning to end with a mix of fun and serious interactions. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters, especially the tight knit group of friends and their playful ways. There were a few interactions that were heartbreaking, in particular the abusive nature of certain characters. This story was very creatively written especially when Jack ventured into the demon’s world and those that inhabited it. There were a few twists and turns that added to the depth of the story. Overall, this was another well written and engaging read.
