Description

“A highly original, moving, and ultimately life-affirming book.” – Sunday Mirror (London)

Twenty-four-year-old Veronika seems to have everything – youth and beauty, boyfriends and a loving family, a fulfilling job. But something is missing in her life. So, one cold November morning. She takes a handful of sleeping pills expecting to never wake up. But she does—at a mental hospital where she is told that she has only days to live.

Inspired by events in Coelho’s own life, Veronika Decides to Die questions the meaning of madness and celebrates individuals who do not fit into patterns society considers to be normal. Bold and illuminating, it is a dazzling portrait of a young woman at the crossroads of despair and liberation, and a poetic, exuberant appreciation of each day as a renewed opportunity.

I love how this teaches u so many things that we always take for granted, from what we leave behind to how our actions effect others. How the world sees us and what is the most important of value. Amazing book to how it really changes your view on everything.

Have you ever thought to yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing? Or why it is you have to study for a subject, get ready for a job, take the dog for a walk, go to the movies, hangout with friends? The reality we live bears so much weight onto what it is we should be doing and not so much on what it is we would like to be doing. I myself have much thought about how much easier it would be to not partake in the mundane tasks of life, which sometimes takes over things that we would much rather, and much happier be doing. This book will help you realize how important it is to not get caught up in the boring reality of our lives and instead it will teach you to not forget about yourself and the things that truly make you happy.

It was a fun read. Talks about religion, law, psychology. Puts life into perspective. The end kinda left me hanging. I wanted more but all in all it was a great book

I received this book as a gift. I've always liked Paulo Coelho. It's true that we all feel "mad" and "crazy" at times.
