Description

The capstone and crowning achievement of  the Future History series, from the New York Times bestselling Grand Master of Science Fiction...

Time Enough for Love follows Lazarus Long through a vast and magnificent timescape of centuries and worlds. Heinlein's longest and most ambitious work, it is the story of a man so in love with Life that he refused to stop living it; and so in love with Time that he became his own ancestor.

This was awful, a waste of time and money. So much was cut from the original book that the story made little sense, and the person recording it read so fast, there was no inflection to make it sound real.HelankaScifiMimi
  • A sweeping saga, but alas dated and cliché

It is almost a portrait of a post-war picket-fence fantasy world, translated in endless time and space (via immortality and space travel). The mercurial Lazarus would be more interesting if he learnt a thing or two in his 2000 years of survival, and all his descendents seem to have inherited his self-serving and limited vision of women. Then again, Heinlein is a giant of sci-fi, and worth a read if anything to understand his own background.
  • I've fallen in love with Heinlein again.

I've loved Heinlein since high school too many years ago and he's still just as good. I would have read twice as much about dear OLD Lazarus. However, the editing on the ebook was poorly done. I know some of those words couldn't be what Robert wrote (but I no longer have my paperback to compare to). Spell-checker is fine for some stuff but have a competent flesh & blood read it, too.
  • Not worth the time

I got this because others had rated it highly and gushed about its greatness. It isn't. The story is tedious and slow, the characters are profoundly shallow, and the myriad quotes are as often misquotes of others as they are dated and cliche. This one is not worth your time. A true disappointment from a great.

Absolutely my favorite of the Grand Master's works, Lazarus Long has to be the most popular of all of his characters!

Lazarus Long, one of the best and most complex and most lovable characters ever written. See the same story in 3 different books by the author. All written from different characters points of view. You will not regret this read.
  • Finally: An e-book!

I wore out 3 paperback copies reading this once or twice a year for the last 20 years. Lazarus Long is now only as far away as my iPad. The conversion to electronic was a bit poor with numerous typos and glitches. Now anxiously awaiting Maureen Smith's memoirs.
