What is Jesus worth to you?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.

Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

When I read this book, it was given to me by a teacher. This book changed my thinking about a lot of things but most importantly making disciples of Christ and the call of all to the mission field. If I could give any book to someone looking to grow in their walk with God and looking to delve into His love and mercy, I would give them Radical. The last chapter gives such a convicting but hard to fulfill challenge. I'm trying to complete it and I encourage you to do the same!

I can't put this book down. What I want to know is why the gvmt didn't want people to learn about Jesus Christ . I'll keep reading to see

Wow! What an amazingly eye opening read. I was challenged in so many ways in my life of how I have been looking at Christianity in the wrong light. Thank you God for opening my eyes to who You really are, and what you really want from my life.

If you are not serious with your walk for Christ and do not want to get closer to God then don't read this book. This book is great and will challenge you to do more than you are doing right now to make the gospel known. But if you don't approach this book with an open mind then you'll likely stop reading by the end chapter 2. If your serious with your devotion to Christ - this is a must have!

This book is challenging to say the least. As Christians, we are supposed to live for Christ's purpose. But as Christians in America, we seem to lose sight of that purpose. This book was written to get us back on track. God is using you Dr. Platt to open eyes and hearts to the reality of the gospel contained in his word. Thank you for challenging me and countless others to let go of earthly things in light of a greater need...

A book worth reading for believers and nonbelievers. It challenges you to look at the fundamentals of your priorities and causes you to question the entire American dream. Make money, go to college, settle down and go your entire life without actually living.
  • Do not read!

Do not read if you enjoy your life in the rut of this American life and want to continue living a mediocre "christian" life. For me this book has completely changed my view of the world around me in the light of the gospel. I want more from my study and devotional life, I want more from my church and missions, I want more Jesus!! This book is well written and an easy read in the sense of context an writing style. But the content is convicting and challenging to your spiritual life. Again do not read, if you don't want to grow and move out of the trappings of this world.
