Description

Crystal had destroyed Killashandra’s memory, and only crystal could restore it—if she dared!

When Killashandra Ree joined the mysterious Heptite Guild, she knew that she would be forever changed. Crystal singing brought ecstasy and pain, near-eternal life . . . and gradual loss of memory. What she hadn’t counted on was the loneliness she felt when her heart still remembered what her mind had forgotten. Fortunately, someone still cared enough to try to salvage what was left of Killashandra’s mind. But she would have to learn to open herself—to another person, and to all her unpleasant memories.

“A treat for long-time McCaffrey fans, a good read and a satisfying look at one of the most haunting facets of the crystal singers’ profession.”—Locus

  • Great read!

I’ve gone back an re-read this series every few years since it was first written. I can’t say that about any other book. Wonderful characters, vivid storyline, fun to read. One of the things I especially like here is that tension in this series is mostly between the characters themselves or their environment, and not some suppressive villain with no backstory. That depressing trend is a far to common cheep writing gimmick, brought on by writers and publishers who can’t think of anything original. This author drips with ingenuity and graces us with plot that rises above those needlessly condescending and needless tricks.
  • Good addition to the series

The end needs some work, to fast, to abrupt of a change in kills character. More info needed on how, why and what " the junk" changed. Maybe a fourth book could clarify.

Hey folks, those annoying "nbsp" blips are not missing text, they show up every time a sentence ends with three periods - indicating a pause in the speaker's conversation. I checked it out with my hardbound copy!

I just bought the first book and was happy to find this here and was gonna look for the last book Killishandra. i think was the title but its not even listed. and now i find out that this one has problems. I am a little ticked off at this news. i would post on her page about the errors but i already did it with one of my other favs of hers that is also here and it has some minor errors. but nothing happened. oh well guess i will have to go down and dust off my books if i want to read the last two.

I truly believed after reading the 2011 reviews, that ITunes would have corrected the problem. Boy,was I wrong. This is a wonderful book, but it can be hard to figure out what the characters meant to say at times. Hopefully, others can find a version that doesn't hAve these distortions.
  • Agreed the nsp

There are so many typo/unconverted section. God I got tired of the ..nsp? Sections in the story. It made it almost impossible to read. Apple should be ashamed to sell this copy.

The book itself is great and continues to be a favorite read of mine. Unfortunately the snook contains errors all throughout from when it was scanned in. In some sections each paragraph has missing text. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
