Description

In Simply Jesus, bestselling author and leading Bible scholar N.T. Wright summarizes 200 years of modern Biblical scholarship and models how Christians can best retell the story of Jesus today. In a style similar to C.S. Lewis’s popular works, Wright breaks down the barriers that prevent Christians from fully engaging with the story of Jesus. For believers confronting the challenge of connecting with their faith today, and for readers of Timothy Keller’s The Reason for God, Wright’s Simply Jesus offers a provocative new picture of how to understand who Jesus was and how Christians should relate to him today.

Before Simply Jesus, I found much of the New Testament confusing. But N.T. Wright lifted the veil, elegantly, convincingly, powerfully.

I really enjoyed N.T. Wright’s style of writing. This book walks you through how Jesus saw his mission and how there was a “perfect storm” two thousand years ago. I found myself going back to re-read passages just to soak it all up.

I have been a Christian for forty years and this is the first time that my understanding of who Jesus was and what He is about was challenged in such a way as to make me grow spiritually. N.T. Wrights ability to place Jesus in cultural and political historical context and then to bring that forward and give it meaning for current generations is thought provoking.

As stated "Jesus is easy to make difficult and hard to make simple". He is ultimately the answer for any serious question. Do not define Christianity by His followers if you are trying to understand Him. Focus on Him. This book does that.
