This book is great! So much has been put into this series. I have read this series since I was 9 so I have had this series for a good three years. And every time I read the series, I love it more and more. I highly recommend this for 10 and up!

The first book (in my opinion) is not as good as some of the other books. This series is the best! Even if you think that this book is just OK then I think you should continue in the series, the books are amazing!

After reading this a second time, I see why I originally gave it 4 stars, but I have altered this to 5. What made this a four star review in the past was that this is told in First-Person narrative, which I tend to not enjoy as much as the various Third person - I am over that bit now. This is a fast read, and a bit short, though it is a Young Adult novel, and at approx 66K it is in the word count that it needs to be. Standard fare of apprentice and master, though dealing with Witches and superstition, with a very European flavor to it. But, the pace is fast, and there is actually a sense of suspense, not because you don't know what is going to happen, but then when, and that makes for a fun and enjoyable read.
