Description

Ender’s Shadow explores the stars in this all-new novel...

At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children--the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth’s scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten--a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth’s history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.

For there in space before them lies a derelict Formic colony ship. Aboard it, they will find both death and wonders--the life support that is failing on their own ship, room to grow, and labs in which to explore their own genetic anomaly and the mysterious disease that killed the ship’s colony. Shadows in Flight is the fifth novel in Orson Scott Card's Shadow Series.

At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

  • Good, not great.

Seems awfully short. This felt like half a story.
  • Not worth it

I'm a big fan of OSC, but this is far from his best work. It's like he wrote it in a hurry to close the gap between the timelines in the Enders Game and Shadow series. Hopefully the next and final book is an improvement on this.

Good read. It's just way to short. Paying full price for a book that I finished I'm two hours.

I am not disappointed in the book itself - I found a good read, and worth the money, despite its relatively short length. However, this "enhanced edition", is very simply incomplete, as in missing pages the physical book has. I noticed this because I read up to chapter 5 in the bookstore before buying the iBook. Look for yourself, there are a few pages omitted in the "enhanced" version. I didn't do a full check, but I have no doubt there is more missing. For this reason alone, I do feel rather cheated for buying the iBook at full price.

Paying full price for a short story. Tskk tskkk. Definitely not Card's best work.
  • Full price for half the "novel."

I should've read the reviews prior to purchasing this book. The story isn't rich enough to justify the price of a "novel" that's more than half the length of any of the other titles in the Ender/Shadow series. It's a nice short story at best.
  • Kind of puzzling

Fragmented and short. The enhancements are not iPhone friendly. Maybe on an iPad. I don't begrudge him the price of his work but I almost felt I was reading an outline of a much longer work. As it was it really did feel like a short story.
  • Over priced and anticlimactic

The book is way to short for the price of admission. I won't spoil the ending but I expected better. Card is my favorite writer, but this one could have been so much better! Let bean go out with a hurrah!
  • Disappointingly short.

Book ends poorly and more like a lead into another. 'Enhancements' nothing particularly special. I do not recommend this book as its more of a short story and not well done.
