Superman: Earth One was the first in a line of graphic novels geared toward teens and young adults, from whom the continuity of the regular comics might appear daunting (and expensive) to collect. This GN gives us his familiar origin, a battle with alien invaders, and the beginning of his career at the Daily Planet. Nothing terribly original to longtime fans, but enjoyable nevertheless. If you liked the early days of Ultimate Marvel, this one's for you.
  • Better than John Bryne's take

I am enjoying Geoff Johns' "Batman: Earth One" series more than this series, but "Superman: Earth One" is good as well. From the look of things, "Man of Steel" is probably based off of this. But we'll find out eventually. Let's talk about the good stuff first. Unlike "Batman: Earth One", this book takes time to show how Clark Kent became Superman, why he wears the glasses, and why he chose to work at the Daily Planet. It's established early in the book that Clark doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. What also got to me was how they said Krypton blew up. I won't spoil it for you, but it's very interesting. The artwork isn't bad, either. Clark is drawn the way you would imagine him starting his career as Superman: in his 20's. Kind of cool that this Superman is around my age. The only problem I have is that I think "Batman: Earth One" had a better cliffhanger. But it still shows that a sequel was going to come out. I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel.

An excellent reboot of Superman's origin story. Perfect for any Superman fan, comic book fan, or anyone looking for a fresh take on The Man of Steel! This is a more modern Clark Kent with a different set of values and motives. A Must Read!
