George Smith was a self taught translator of the Babylonian cuniform; when he pieced these tablets together, he discovered the Babylonian account of Genesis, which preceeded the Old Testament version by at least a millenia. In current decades, researchers like Zecharia Sitchin and David Icke have related these tales as the story of Annunaki, the Reptilians from the planet Nibiru, who seeded mankind as a slave race.
