As a lifetime long Batman fan who rejoiced at the charaters revitalization in Miller's first book I just want to say this is the worst batman story ever. I can only imagine that Miller was doing a lot of some powdered judegement-impeder from Columbia, but seriously this story is just terrible. As soon as I finish writing this I'm going back to pretending it never existed.

In this novel, Frank Miller manages to take the Batman and change him into the one thing that he swore not to be. A killer. Even if he didn’t directly kill the people who died, he was responsible for arranging the “assassinations”. Not only this, but he also managed to destroy the reputation of Dick Grayson, not only by making him seem like a coward who didn’t live up to the mantle of Robin, but someone who was craven enough to resort to depending on the criminal scum of the DC universe in order to get the power he thought he needed to become Robin. Frank Miller definitely has had it before.

His first novel of the series the Dark Knight Returns was an absolute masterpiece, this one, not so much. It lacks a lot of the excellence the first one had, but still it had its good spots, like an unexpected ending and some creativity. Bottom line, good but there are better.
