Description

All Lexi wants to do is get through the day at her boring temp job with Green Hand Insurance. That’s until she discovers the vice president, Martin Dean, in a pool of blood and herself at the center of an investigation into insurance fraud.

Millions of dollars are missing, the chief suspect is dead and her mysterious, sexy, new boss is not what he seems.

Recruited by the joint task force working on the case, all Lexi has to do is work out who killed Dean and where the missing millions are. That’s easier said than done when her sister insists upon the baby shower to end all baby showers, her wise-ass cop family just wants to keep her safe, someone keeps leaving her creepy gifts, and all the clues point to a seedy sex club on the wrong side of town.

As the bodies start to pile up, Lexi is on a race against time to find the killer and the money, before she’s the next one in the murderer’s sights.

Overall the book was boring mainly because Alex thinks to highly on herself and this brought the story way down. The story line was good and the had a good ending, but the selfishness of Alex and how she looked, acted and thought how everyone should think she was so great and desirable, brought down the whole story.

The author must live in the UK or Australia since she uses s instead of z in some words and has no idea about guns, purchasing or shooting. The villain uses the undercover officers real name instead of his cover name, and that didn’t cause any red flags? Easy read that was free, but kind of dumb and an unrealistic story.

Lexi is an engaging main character. She’s smart but is totally low-key about it. She’s a Jill-of-all-trades and fits in wherever she goes. There’s suspense not only about whatever case is happening but also in her love life with two sexy alpha-male law enforcers. Or is one of them just a friend? It’s hard to tell! Then there’s her family who are also law enforcers who keep an eye on her as she’s the baby of the family. And her best friend Lilly who is also great at getting Lexi into madcap antics and situations. You’ll definitely want to continue reading this series as it holds your attention in every way.

I loved how the main characters are portrayed in the story. There is sass, heat, and mystery all rolled into one. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. It is a light and fun read. It was written beautifully.

Fortune, Ida Bell and Gertie at least know what is happening in their town of Sinful. Defensive training, being former US agents, way smarter make them unlikely crime stoppers Because everyone in your family is law enforcement is no reason to think you’ll be effective too. Miss Fortune Because everyone in your family is law enforcement is no reason to think you’ll be effective too. Disappointed
