Description

The word Rache, written in blood on the wall at the scene of a murder, marked Sherlock Holmes’ introduction to the world.  Published in 1887, A Study in Scarlet presented Holmes as a new type of hero, one who uses razor sharp powers of deduction and minute attention to detail to solve cases too hard for Scotland Yard.  Sherlock Holmes’ brilliant insights and quick wit soon made him a legend.  Due to his immense popularity, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle went back to his most famous character again and again, writing an additional 3 Sherlock Holmes novels and 56 short stories over the next four decades.

This edition is not the original text.  Rather, it is a remastered version that strives to make the classic story more accessible.  While the vast majority of the text is original, hundreds of modifications have been made to make the story an easier, smoother reading experience for modern readers.  We hope these changes will allow a new generation to enjoy the brilliance of Sherlock Holmes.

This is actually an abridged version. Using the term “remastered “ is really a distinction without a difference.

As the other reviewer "Mr. Silvers" pointed out, this shameful "remastered" version of the book uses censorship and also removed a lot of the original content. This is NOT what remastering is about. This is simply ruining a fantastic book.

The original is short enough that a remastering is not needed. The original is a great story and doesn't need to be "updated" to suit a newer audience. Read the original, don't waste your time with the remastering.

This "remastered" edition employs shameless censorship and needless modification. Avoid it and all the rest by Leo Zanaf. It is an insult to literature. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a talented writer nonetheless, and his story was still good underneath.
