Another fantastic read by McDevitt. This book takes on topics such as environmental responsibility on other worlds, balancing self-interest with a larger moral obligation, and bravery/martyrdom vs self-preservation/living. All of those, set to a younger Priscilla Hutchins than we've seen before. McDevitt's engagement of the road to experience of a new pilot, guided by mentors, misunderstood by family, and possessing a strong compass that guides her to the right thing... This novel us compelling, memorable, and another fine example of the depth of character McDevitt always puts into his novels.
