Twelve-year-old Jude lives a happy life in Syria with her family and best friend. They spend time by the sea, watch American movies, and Jude dreams of becoming an actress. However, war disrupts their peaceful existence. To ensure Jude's safety, her mother takes her to live with relatives in Cincinnati, Ohio.
