Description

Named one of "The 20 Greatest Ever Romance Novels According to Goodreads Reviews" by O, The Oprah Magazine

Young interior designer Ava O'Shea has no idea what awaits her at the Manor. A run-of-the-mill consultation with a stodgy country gent seems likely, but what Ava finds instead is Jesse Ward--a devastatingly handsome, utterly confident, pleasure-seeking playboy who knows no boundaries. Ava doesn't want to be attracted to this man, and yet she can't control the overwhelming desire that he stirs in her. She knows that her heart will never survive him and her instinct is telling her to run, but Jesse is not willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her.

There’s so much unnecessary events throughout the book. I practically skim through the pages. Simply put, Ava lacks of feminism and Jesse is a misogynist.

I’m guessing this is a Fifty Shades wanna be. But it’s really bad. I quite half way through to book.
  • Terrible.

I could not finish this book. There is obvious racism in the way she describes and treats the black man in the book and there is absolutely no chemistry between the two love interests. The man is controlling and blatantly ignores her when she refuses him sexually. I could not stand this book and there was nothing that made me want to continue reading it.

If you are a fan of erotica, I highly recommend this book! I found it to be much better than 50 Shades and it has a better story

Jesse is way too controlling and manipulative! The whole relationship is toxic and frustrating to read. Uses sex to constantly get what he wants, refuses to answer any personal questions about himself, and bullies Ava into complete compliance. Ava starts as a strong and confident woman but gets down to get a weak and small woman. Disappointing book. Theres should be a trigger warning in the front for women that had their own Real-life Jesse! Why is this a New York Times best-seller again??
  • Abusive themes - not for me

This is a no for me. The main character is mentally and emotionally abusive - it’s just disguised as “love”. Not to mention the stalking.

I see so many claim to love this series. It was really a book about Erotic sex that’s it. No depth. I mean how many time does he have to say “I love you in lace.”? Ava falls in love with a dominant man. She falls in love with him and never has single conversation outside of discussing sex with him. She has no backbone. She simply does whatever he tells her to do. She talks a good game in her inner monologue. Even if she tells him no he breathes on her and all she can think about is sex with him. He interferes with her job and she says don’t do that, he does it and she’s like oh swoon I can’t think when he is near me. That is all there is too her. Why does almost every book have an annoying best friend? Kate hates the ex boyfriend for cheating on her best friend. Somehow she likes the abusive controlling Jesse. At one point she defies her best friend letting him in to the house because “the way he looks at you.” It’s cool he punched a hole in the wall but let’s leave the best friend alone with him. Jesse is simple abusive and childish if he doesn’t get his way he throws a tantrum. Never answers a single question Ava ask he touches her and she forgets she asked a question busy being turned on. Clearly there are a lot of secrets Ava notices but doesn’t end up saying anything because the sex is so amazing Jesse blinks and she is turned on forgetting the weird things going on around her. There was only one secret that came to light and that was at the end of the book so it ends in a cliff hanger. There were so many sex scenes I ended up skimming and looking for “” marks so I hopefully I didn’t miss a conversation. I don’t know why it why was mainly don’t come yet. Or watch your Mouth.

Not a fan. It’s a dupe of the Cross series. Ava is annoying, she’s always crying, or indecisive and never has a reason. And I feel like Jesse tries to hard. Idk this series isn’t for me but I’ll finish this book since I paid for it.

I fell in love with this book! Being a big fan of erotic fiction such as fifty shades, I was struggling to find another great series and this one delivered! “This Man” is captivating, sexy, and keeps you on your toes from the start! I flew threw this book and immediately purchased the second one because I was so hooked. I’ve read many reviews stating how unhealthy and unrealistic Ava and Jesse’s relationship is, which makes me laugh. Of course it is, if you’re looking for true relationship advice this is not the genre for you! There were countless times that I wanted to reach through my screen an smack some sense into Ava and Jesse, but those reviews that are rating the book low due to this is silly to me. If you’re old enough to be reading this, you should be well aware of what a healthy and stable relationship looks like.... enough said. Enjoy Jesse and Ava’s ride... it’s quite a wild one!
