Preface In this book, “Privacy and Individual Freedom in Eritrean Society: Challenges and Prospects,” we delve into the critical issues surrounding privacy and personal freedom in Eritrea. The book sheds light on the widespread violations of privacy, particularly through social media and digital platforms, where personal information and images are often misused without consent. We explore the international and United Nations laws that protect privacy rights, which remain largely unknown and unheeded in Eritrea. The book also examines the systemic use of misinformation and baseless accusations by the regime to suppress dissent and control the narrative. By highlighting these issues, we aim to raise awareness about the fundamental importance of privacy and individual rights in the digital age. This book is a call to action for greater respect and protection of personal freedoms, urging both local and international communities to recognize and address these pressing challenges in Eritrean society.
