This was supposed to be his best book. I enjoyed The Terror far more.

I love Dan Simmons, but I can’t remember a book I’ve enjoyed less than this one. Slow, dreary, and boring, where barely anything happens, and what does happen is just depressing for the sake of being depressing. Avoid at all costs.

This book is a journey worth taking.
