A unique love letter from the author to her Gold Rush home town of Paradise, California -- the town lost in the devastating Camp Fire of 2018...

CALIFORNIA LEGENDS...These are chronicles of the Old West--of the native people who lived on the land for generations and the pioneers who came from all over the world in search of riches...the struggle to survive in a land without laws... the strange bedfellows that resulted from a clash of cultures...,and the common language of the heart that spoke of a love more precious than gold.

NATIVE GOLD: Book 1

Mathilda Hardwicke, a rebellious artist rejected by her family and New York society, heads west to Gold Rush California to make a new life for herself as a mail-order bride. When fate leaves her at the altar in Paradise Bar--a ramshackle gold camp full of ragtag miners--she's sure she's leaped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

But unbeknownst to Mattie, she has a protector. Sakote, a fierce Konkow warrior, is bound by honor to watch over the white woman. And though his tribe is threatened by the encroaching miners, he's strangely drawn to Mattie, who delights in making pictures of him and whose destiny seems entwined with his.

When a tragedy at the camp forces Sakote to steal Mattie away, she finds herself in an unfamiliar Paradise of savage wonder, and she soon discovers a forbidden love more precious than gold.

About Glynnis Campbell

When she's not writing swashbuckling historical romances and playing medieval matchmaker, bestselling author Glynnis Campbell (also writing as Sarah McKerrigan and Kira Morgan) is a cartoon voice, the wife of a rock star, and the mother of two young adults. She's been a ballerina, a typographer, a film composer, a piano player, a singer in an all-girl rock band, and a voice in those violent video games you won't let your kids play. She does her best writing on cruise ships, in Scottish castles, on her husband's tour bus, and at home in her sunny southern California garden. Glynnis loves transporting readers to a place where the bold heroes have endearing flaws, the women are stronger than they look, the land is lush and untamed, and chivalry is far from dead!

Ive read many books in this genre before, and this has to be my favorite. Off the bat, this book spoke to me. Paradise was a second hometown of mine, and I was amazed to see how the author matched its descriptions in the story. The writing in this book is top tier. You can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel everything the author describes through the characters eyes. I love Mattie and Sakote so much, they have such wonderful chemistry, and their story has plenty of heartbreaking angst, as well as soul binding love that will leave you cheering for them the entire time. The ending is sweet and it wraps everything up perfectly, which I find is missing in some of these stories. Loved the spicy scenes, too. Overall absolutely flawless. 5 stars for Native Gold.

This book is my favorite one in the series. Hawk and Wolf are the twins they have and the rest of the series is about their romances. They were all really good.

In my opinion, this book is worth the read. I found myself immediately drawn into the characters and the plot and was sad when it came to an end. I liked it enough to mark that I would read it again! I hope you like it as well.

A nice read, full characters, and good store line. Great book to read when traveling or on a rainy afternoon.
