Description

From London to Corsica to Paris as a young woman pursues the truth about her late mother, two captivating love stories unfurl in this captivating novel from the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Paris Apartment and The Guest List

Kate Darling's enigmatic mother — a once-famous ballerina — has passed away, leaving Kate bereft. When her grandmother falls ill and bequeaths to Kate a small portrait of a woman who bears a striking resemblance to Kate's mother, Kate uncovers a mystery that may upend everything she thought she knew.

Kate's journey to find the true identity of the woman in the portrait takes her to some of the world's most iconic and indulgent locales, revealing a love story that began in the wild 1920s and was disrupted by war and could now spark new love for Kate. Alternating between Kate's present-day hunt and voices from the past, The Book of Lost and Found casts light on family secrets and love — both lost and found.

A little slow in the beginning, but worth it to stick with it! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I liked much of this book, but didn’t love it. It dragged on at times and then ended so abruptly. I know every love story doesn’t have a happy ending, but there were too many details that weren’t wrapped up which just left me disappointed.
  • Hungry still loved the chapters given

I have a feeling of being hungry at the end. This is a beautiful story. Well written. Most questions that you may have as you read are answered. But the I came to the end. I needed more. I have wrapped my life around these characters and feel…unfulfilled. Please add a longer epilogue. Don’t make me imply a summary to lives. Feed me more.

I will read this again. I have loved Lucy Foley for her mysteries - but this was an historical love story and so enjoyable.

Not the ending we want, but a deep story of love.

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting and I think it would translate well into either a movie or even a series. There was a brief part where I thought it could have been tighter, but all in all, it was worth both the investment of time and money.
