  • It was everything I’d hoped

I’ve loved magic for a long time, since I was a very young child, this book is it exactly how I imagined magic to be and I loved the realism of it. Don’t go into it thinking it’s “adult Harry Potter and/or Narnia” because I’ve noticed a lot of people get disappointed thinking that. The main character isn’t meant to be heroic or moral or even relatable, because from my understanding that’s not what a book is. He’s not nearly as bad as SOME people are saying, in fact, his character arc is just another reason I’d recommend this trilogy. In conclusion, great story, great magic system, fantastic lore, great trilogy.

This book is one of the worst I have ever read, the author frequently leaps from one idea to another, the main character is so different that you can’t relate to him at all and he morally is a piece of garbage, I can’t read a book where the main character has no moral properties, does drugs, sleeps with other women even when he’s dating and etc.

I could write a whole book on how much I loved this series, but I will shorten it considerably. Wonderful characters that are very well developed. I loved how the main character isn't above the rest and isn't the best at everything, he's only great, not excellent. I loved how they all had deep faults. The vocabulary used in this is amazing, and because of the setting and intelligence of the characters, it becomes even better. I was only 13 when I read this series, and it changed my whole outlook on life and increased my vocabulary greatly. It can become very fast paced, almost too much, but you never get bored. You will stay interested the whole time and be cringing wanting to know what happens next. The ending is amazing and the whole series is amazing. Beautifully written, planned, and executed. Maybe my favorite series of all time. Great job, Lev.
