Description

The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in this #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering who killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her battle partner Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

The storyline was good enough. I dare say it was immaculate . Loved the family dynamics including the story behind Mark being cast away to the hunt, the different personalities and characteristics of the siblings, story behind Helen ( although she rarely appears in the book if at all) and the togetherness that is seen through the multitude of pages where Julian spends his time being the father that his older brother could not be following the death of their parents. I also loved Cristina and Mark as characters. Julian and Emma… Not so much. Throughout the book, it is obvious that Emma likes Julian, it doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to figure that out. She even liked him before the became parabatai so why they became parabatai in the first place is beyond me given the law. Every singles dialogue she has in the book has at-least like 20 references to Julian and his broad shoulders and how beautiful he is and yet she keeps saying ‘what is this feeling in my chest whenever I think of him.’ Like at this point your IQ is below 20. The fact that they have u know what on the beach and debate on weather they love each other??? Unbelievable. Horrible. They’re romance is the worst. THEY ARE NOT SOULMATES. Like mindless stuff on the beach? No thank you. Even the stuff scene was disappointing. Felt like passion and not love. Julian doesn’t love her bro. Not in that way. And the fact that she went on to date mark later is 🤬🤬🤬. But its better that way cause julian aint her soulmate after that beach scene. Just to not i only red up to chapter 18…. Still reading

Don’t like the girl. She forced “him” and then ran “him” away. The family dynamic is what really makes the story

I really just thought this book was okay. Julian and Emma are not my favorite characters. And, mindless sex on the beach? Give me a break. I feel like CC could have done better

For the cost of this book you’re going to get half a story. This ends in a cliff hanger.
  • I loved this book with a love far greater than love

This book is so amazing and I loved all the references to Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe.
