Although students commonly encounter cellular respiration several times during their education, they often find these processes complex and difficult to understand. Consequently, they resort to memorizing the steps involved in glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidation phosphorylation without ever truly understanding the material. This ends up being frustrating for everyone involved, students and teachers alike.
