Description

“This book blew me away, completely. Gripping from page one, I—quite literally—couldn’t put it down.”—Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners

Growing up, Mallory Dodge learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at a public high school. But she never imagined she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet soon it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants and the truths that need to be heard.

This book is just… I can’t explain!!! This is definitely one of my top favorite books. The long lost friendship to a new couple is just phenomenal. The way the author uses past and present is sometimes hard to keep up with but the books details overrule it. Definitely worth my money!!!

The characters were so interesting, even the side characters. Everyone had interesting storylines, and all the twists were really good. It made me cry but I think that shows how amazing the story and writing are.

4.5☆ This book is different from the other stuff that JLA writes, but it's still her writing so of course I'm gonna like it. Mallory and Rider are such interesting and complex characters that have been through so much already in their lives. I loved reading about Mallory and how she progressed and grew as a person throughout the book. JLA does such a good job with writing her characters and making me feel for them. I instantly empathized with Mallory and Rider. I can't even imagine having to go through what they had to face and coming out of it ok. I love Rider! He is such a good and sweet guy who only wants the absolute best for the people he cares about. I loved the ending, it was really cute and touching and I'm very happy with where Mallory and Rider are in life.
