Description

From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author, Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn, comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…

Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun.  It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.

She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.

Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

4.5☆ A wonderful conclusion to The Wait for You Series! I love Brock and Jillian. They're super adorable together. I'm not a huge fan of time jumps, but this one worked for me. Of course I was still anxious to find out what actually happened to Jillian and what caused the distance between her and Brock, but I liked the way their past was weaved into their present. I admire Jillian's strength with moving past everything she has been though, she's a tough girl. Brock has made mistakes in his past, but I loved how he still affects Jillian and how he brings out the fire in her. The storyline was super interesting and I loved watching them rebuild their relationship. The appearances of and updates from all the other characters made me super happy! I loved every little bit of it. The only problem I had was with the short and sudden ending. I'm not a fan of the short, or in this case no, epilogue. JLA is usually really good with that so it made me sad that the last book of the series ends somewhat suddenly. At least I'll be able to read the bonus scenes from all the characters from the preorder incentive soon! Still loved this book and am super sad that this series is over =(

For me, none that have followed have compared to Avery and Cam. Their connection felt authentic and gradual and real and I'll admit I have read "Wait For You" and "Trust in Me" 3 times in the last two years. While "Fire In You" was okay, I found myself trying to like it more than anything. I liked Jillian. And I liked Brock. But that was it. I didn't feel like I was pulling for them or even than I connected to them very much. I didn't cry when Jillian was shot and I didn't feel like enough of that situation was brought to life. Like, what happened to the dude who shot her? Also- the whole Paul situation seemed wasted. I kept waiting for him to attack her or do something creepy (I even considered the possibility that he was, like, the guy who shot her) and it seemed a little unnecessary. Also- she made a comment about how he reminded her of some guy that cornered her in Philly that just kind of flopped there with no explanation. All in all, it was decent. But I didn't love it. And I even skimmed over the sex parts because they were just kind of Eh and gave me an eye roll feeling for some reason.

Jillian’s home was a refuge for Brock Mitchell. A place where he was given a second chance, a place where he found family, a place where he became “Brock, the Beast Mitchell”…a top professional fighter. The day Brock met Jillian’s father changed his life forever. Jillian was Brock’s shadow, always in the wings as the grew into adult hood. Crushing on Brock would have been an understatement, she flat out loved him. One fate-filled night changed it all. Barely surviving a brutal and deadly attack, Brock blames himself for not being there for Jillian while Jillian life was altered forever. Driving them apart, six years is a really long time to avoid each other. Six years later, after much conjoling from her parents, Jillian agrees to come back into the family business, the training gym that was her life before the attack. Little did she know they were thrusting her back into Brock’s path. Smoldering chemistry explodes, when the patient but commanding Brock finally sees what he’s been missing…Jillian! Fire In You is a riveting, heartwarming tale of friendship, love, family and healing. It was a marvelous love story but when you add in Armentrout’s way of connecting characters to her readers, you have a contemporary romance that should not be missed.

I would highly recommend this book and the series. I love how the author's characters are not perfect. I enjoyed reading how flaws do not hold the characters back. Wonderful love story.

Oh. My. God. I'm absolutely way above cloud nine being immersed in this series, with all these characters again. All that excitement and anticipation I had after reading Forever With You came crashing back down once I started reading this. I remembered how stoked I was looking forward to Brock's book. And I knew, I just knew, that he'd end up with sweet, innocent Jillian. Seeing all that happen and unfold before my very eyes was like magic wrapped up in all that heavenly, steamy goodness. They were definitely a pair I was craving and dying to know so much more about. Jennifer L. Armentrout truly knows how to make a girl swoon and drool like nobody's darn business while squeezing your heart out. She writes some of the best page-turners out there and this second-chance romance is just another impressive addition to that long list. The perfectly timed humor was impeccable as always. The maelstrom of emotions will wash over you repeatedly. So you better be ready to be flung all over the place because the feels... Oh god, the feels of this book is on a whole other level. You'll feel everything deep in your bones. It'll drown you and take you to heights none of the other books in the series were able to. Plus, the tension and heat were through the roof. Brock and Jillian seriously brought the house down burning with all that passion and desire brewing from the beginning until the very last page. I never wanted this book to end. I just loved where their story took me and how everything went down. No matter how painfully soul shattering some of the scenes were, especially those flashbacks, JLA made sure to glue back the pieces together and soothe them. It was so good, so bittersweet knowing with every chapter I finished and every page I turned, I was getting closer and closer to what was inevitable. This entire series is indeed one of the top favorites I hold dearly and closely to my heart and will cherish for a long, long time. After all, Wait For You is the very first JLA book that I've read and has utterly won me over ever since.
