Description

New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner returns to the smoking hot, emotionally compelling world of the Stark International trilogy that  features Jackson Steele, a strong-willed man who goes after what he wants, and Sylvia Brooks, a disciplined woman who’s hard to get—and exactly who Jackson needs...

I’ve never been happier than I am with Jackson Steele. But I should know better than anyone that happiness always comes at a price ...

My life with Jackson is nothing short of perfection. He is my love, my husband, the one man in all the world who makes me feel alive and whole. Our careers are on track. Our family is growing. And the ghosts of our past have been vanquished – or so I believed.

When a wonderful night of sensuality and passion following a masquerade ball turns dark with the news that haunting, horrible photographs of me have surfaced, my old fears and insecurities threaten to knock me down, and it is only within Jackson’s arms that I find the strength to endure.

But even Jackson’s protection may not be able to save us, because I know my husband well. And he will do whatever it takes—even if it means risking himself—in order to protect our family…

Contains a bonus Steele Short Story, Steal My Heart!

Take My Dare is intended for mature audiences.

I'm glad this novella is an extension of a previous series. I'm not a huge fan when it's the entire story. Glad to see Sylvia and Jackson back in action. I would like to have seen a few more chapters. I really enjoyed the laundry room scene. But even for a novella it was really quick read.

I absolutely love reading about Jackson and Sylvia. They are the best. Most of all I like how strong Sylvia is as a woman. She knows her husband will always be their for her, but is not willing to let anyone blackmail her. Especially, with pictures that showed her innocence as a child. I'm so glad she had the courage to stand up for her self. Of course Jackson was right their by her side every step of the way giving his support every step of the way.

I was so excited to get my hands on this book (as I always am when J Kenner releases another masterpiece) the only problem was I wish it were longer. Even if it were 1,000 pages I'd still want more! Her writing style is like no other. The details, characters connections, the strength in marriages, friendships, hardships, intense steamy scenes and the trust and love between Sylvia and Jackson is brilliant. Sylvia has been through an unimaginable struggle due to the actions of her parents. She only found her personal strength through the support of Jackson. Just when she thought it was all behind them they are back on the roller coaster ride of life. "Some girls grow up feeling like princesses, their fathers doting on them, telling them that Daddy will always be there. That no boy will ever be quite good enough for Daddy’s little girl. That they are sweet and smart and beautiful and that the world is there for them to conquer. Words spoken with affection and colored by love. I’ve known those girls, but I was never one of them. My father tossed me into hell, treating me as a pawn. Or, worse, as currency. My parents doted on my brother Ethan, the fragile little prince. And while I adored him, too, I hated the fact that I was never the princess. I was chattel, and I was destroyed, and the scars of my childhood lingered far too long, creeping into my dreams and stealing my confidence. But that was then. That was before Jackson. Jackson Steele, the man who colors my days and enriches my nights. The man who saw the strength in me. Who held my hand as I battled my fears, and who never gave up on me. The man I love. The man who is my husband and the father of my children." Jackson and Sylvia are enjoying life and their children....then the unimaginable happens and her past is again her present. She's afraid Jackson won't be able to control his temper while protecting her. Sylvia doesn't want to see him behind bars, but also doesn't want to go behind his back and handle things alone. Although he gives her strength she is starting to think she candle things on her own. Sylvia's father is presenting another decision she needs to make. Does she want him in her life and her children's life? Can she forgive him? Does she want to forgive and forget what he had put her and Jackson through? I can't wait to see where the next book takes us...

Fantastic! There's such intense chemistry between Jackson and Sylvia. As usual, the time flew by while reading their story. What's not to love! Once again, Julie brings life to the pages. Her descriptive writing had me right there with her characters. The feelings of love, support and commitment are forever present. Moreover, trust is reiterated and shown with sexy-time, words and actions. Jackson's loyalty to his wife and his devotion for his family is everything. Of course their happy bubble can't last forever though. Can Sylvia face her past? Will there always be angst hovering around her? Can Jackson be the husband he claims he is? Or will he let her down? Hands down this is a J. Kenner book you'll want to read. It's a feel good book with an ending that will make you beg for more. A must read.

The Steele's steals my heart every single time! Well, I am going to say it, in my opinion Jackson & Sylvia totally rival Damien & Nikki on the smokin' hot & sexy scale! This novella is a great addition to the Stark International series. They are such a great couple you can't help but wish them nothing but happiness with their two beautiful children. Even beyond their super steamy hot sex, there is so much mutual respect, love, need and utter devotion it is a living breathing entity. They are intense! Jackson is just sex on a stick and his dominant nature is so hot!!! Sylvia is gorgeous, strong and an amazing mom. Their love is so deep and all consuming that they are as necessary as breathing to each other and they rely on each other for their strength. The sexy times between them is out of this galaxy no matter where they are and they are definitely do get quite creative. The costume party scene was so freakin' hot and sexy and I loved it!! Their two children have not managed to put out the five-alarm fire that is always burning between the sheets or other places for them. I adore how they both are with Ronnie and Jeffery but especially Ronnie since they did not start off in the same way as they did with Jeffery. They just need to get through a few more nasty bumps in the road, some drama from the past and hopefully they can just focus on the beautiful family they have. One of my favorite quotes from the book is from Jackson. He tells Sylvia "You've always been strong I'm just the man who helped you realize it. " Thank you for the bonus at the end. It was awesome to read about the events leading up to Jeffery's birth. I was hoping to get that story.
