Loved it! Brad Meltzer is brilliant!
Different type of Meltzer

Meltzer usually hooks me in a few paragraphs and I can’t put the book down. In this one, there was something about it that kept me feeling like I was distant from the characters and plot line. About 3/4 of the way through, I got more comfortable with “the voice” and at times, I was turning pages rapidly. But, although it’s a good story, tough subjects, interesting characters, I still felt “outside” the events. Wondering if it was the subject matter, the storytelling style, or something else.
Slow start, roaring finish

It took about 15% to start moving, but then the book got interesting. Following a mortician may not be your first instinct, but Meltzer delivers adventure for Zig, Nola, and the gang. Overall, I’d recommend.

Interesting but brad tends too drag things out. Gets boring with all the verbiage. Forget the filler and stick to the storyline.

I’m with Jaykk5977. This book is purely awful, with implausible characters and undisciplined writing. Any comparisons with Stieg Larsson are a huge reach.

I really struggled to keep an excitement to read. Took me forever to get thru.
Sad and depressing tale.

I am not a fan. While the character of Zig is a good one, the rest of the story was just depressing. Not one I would read again or recommend.

My daughter will tell you I don’t read for fun very much. This book was so good it kept me on my feet but I am very dissatisfied with the ending. He had better be making a sequel for this. Overall awesome.

A good read. I got a bit frustrated with every other chapter going back in time but all in all I enjoyed the book.
