Description

I crawled into Ryan Jensen's bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister's bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn't. I didn't jump out. I didn't get embarrassed.

I relaxed.

And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have.

He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

This book hits such a sensitive topic that is so very real to so many people. I can’t even find the words to describe how amazing this book is and how the author does a fantastic job talking about the sensitive topic. I read this book in much less than a day and it is my new favorite book ever. I don’t normally leave reviews, i just read other peoples… but i had to leave one for this book. I don’t think you could find the exact words to throughly describe just how captivating this book truly is. If you are thinking about reading it, DO IT IMMEDIATELY! It will be soooo worth your time!

I wanna say this before I say anything else. When an author is using her writing and her characters to express serious matters like suicide or Depression (both serious topics) there should always be a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. Also, don’t describe serious topics as a beautiful fairytale because though it’s a beautiful thing, it’s also very misleading and misinformed which is why so many people make assumptions about these serious topics. There should always be light shed on some hard truths about serious topics like suicide and someone whose battling Depression. The reason why I gave this book a five star rating is because Tijan is so talented with her writing that in her storylines, especially this book, she always makes me wanna jump in her stories and help these amazing characters she creates. And if a writer can get you that worked up like that, that goes to show you how good she or he is at writing. And I love this book for that. This book definitely had me all worked up and wanting to fight for the main character 💕

This book definitely has a very mature subject but it’s written very childishly. This girls twin sister just died and the love interest is all like “I know you’re severely depressed right now but you’re so hot aha ha”. (Not an actual quote but you get the gist) I understand that the other characters have no idea what the main character is going through, but still that’s a little unnecessary. Also in one part of the book the main character is trying to leave a party because she can’t handle being in a social area, but then when it’s brought up that people are going to a college party after she’s all down for it. Like she just forgot she couldn’t handle this small party but definitely can handle a college party in the span of 10 minutes. Just a little inconsistent. In summary it’s a good plot but bad execution.

This book was so good that I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one day. I’ve never read a more relatable book before! Ryan’s Bed invoked so many emotions ranging from heartbreak to passion and love. Mac’s story, especially the ending, is thought provoking and engaging. It was written so well and with so much care put into the storyline.

I think about this book a lot. I think it is one of the best this author has written (that I’ve read so far). Honest and an excellent insight into grief, and depression in YA. The teenage girl conflicted was wayyyy more intense than anything I ever witnessed or experienced or even heard of, even as a teenage girl. BUT I think the nail is hit on the head with the level of drama teenagers can inflict. Perfect example of “We can write teenagers how we want them to be or how they are”. YA’s grieve. YA’s have adult problems, that they often handle like the children they are growing up from. Anyway. LOVED this book. It touched my heart in such a way that I think about it 6 months later. It moved my soul in such a way that I recommend it to people I know who have struggled with the same things I have, the same things talked about in this book. And it poke to me so honestly that I finished it in one sitting.

This is now one of my favorite books that I will go back and reread several times. I started this book after seeing it several times and thinking to myself, “I don’t want to buy it, but do I?”. After a month I bought it and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I understand how Mackenzie feels and that’s what made me love this story so much. Tijan is such an amazing author and this book was one of her best.

I don’t usually leave book reviews, I read others, but I feel this needs to be said. This book is legit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read it in one day, while working, and is definitely a book I will be rereading. While there were parts that I thought I couldn’t read on, (selfishly, because I didn’t want something sad to happen, which didn’t btw)I’m so glad I did!! That ending-mind. Blowing! I can’t wait to read more from Tijan!!!

This book was a game changer. I’ve never had a book affect me so much, its heart wrenching and an emotional roller coaster. I cried, laughed and felt everything the characters were expressing. Tijan did an amazing job on this book.
