Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER When this relentless rogue FBI agent comes knocking, her adversaries will have to answer—with their lives—in this thrilling Jane Hawk novel by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Corner.

“Koontz continues the incredible saga of the robust character of Jane Hawk, and it’s as terrific as the others in the series.”—Associated Press

“We’re rewriting the play, and the play is this country, the world, the future. We break Jane’s heart, we’ll also break her will.”

She was one of the FBI’s top agents until she became the nation’s most-wanted fugitive. Now Jane Hawk may be all that stands between a free nation and its enslavement by a powerful secret society’s terrifying mind-control technology. She couldn’t save her husband, or the others whose lives have been destroyed, but equipped with superior tactical and survival skills—and the fury born of a broken heart and a hunger for justice—Jane has struck major blows against the insidious cabal.

But Jane’s enemies are about to hit back hard. If their best operatives can’t outrun her, they mean to bring her running to them, using her five-year-old son as bait. Jane knows there’s no underestimating their capabilities, but she must battle her way back across the country to the remote shelter where her boy is safely hidden . . . for now. As she moves resolutely forward, new threats begin to emerge: a growing number of brain-altered victims driven hopelessly, violently insane. With the madness spreading like a virus, the war between Jane and her enemies will become a fight for all their lives—against the lethal terror unleashed from behind the forbidden door.

  • Bloody awful

What a waste of time! The book is bloody and awful and just plain stupid. I'd rather eat worms than finish this poorly written sappy series.
  • Overly Descriptive and Flawed

Characters invested in and spent many pages delving into disappear without ceremony or meaning. Dean Koontz, known for his over-use of similes and grandiose descriptions seems to have doubled down on this one. However, in the end, Jane Hawk and the unraveling conspiracy keep the reader turning the pages.

Don’t waste your money. This is absolute rubbish. The author uses over a 1000 pages to tell a 250 page story.

This series of books is from the Dean Koontz I know and love.Good and evil,a child, and of course a dog(in this case two).I always have to look up at least one new word for me in the dictionary.I love the verbose pictures painted and for the vast majority of the time ,I agree with the philosophy.Cannot wait for the next stage of Jane Hawk’s adventure!
  • Great read!

I was skeptical before I opened to the first page, but that dissipated after the first few paragraphs😄. What a thrill-ride with all the goodies. Drama, suspense, and love are entwined throughout! This series is a must-read. But, hold on tight because Koontz is taking you on a sci-go thriller that will get you to take a second look at your boss, your neighbor, and your spouse.

Chock full of irrelevant fluff - 400 pages could be reduced to 50 pages of actual content.
  • More more more!!! Mr. Koontz never fails to keep me glued to the pages.

Jane Hawk is unforgettable. She is arguably the most captivating protagonist Mr. Koontz has created to date. While reading Jane, I must set an alarm to keep myself from being late to work, bed, life in general, etc. Seriously, Jane Hawk never ceases to amaze, making it difficult to focus on much else but her next move. Her trusted allies are equally mesmerizing. I have fallen in love with the whole lot of them. Even some of the creepy characters are fascinating. I have no idea how Mr. Koontz does it, but I sure am grateful. If you’re wondering if Jane is worthy of your time, the answer (in my opinion) is an unequivocal “Yes!”. Start from the beginning though.., you won’t want to miss a beat. #gojanego

Doesn’t really get one star. Worst book I’ve read in year.
