I see dead people. But then, by God, I do something about it. Odd Thomas never asked for his special ability. He’s just an ordinary guy trying to live a quiet life in the small desert town of Pico Mundo. Yet he feels an obligation to do right by his otherworldly confidants, and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death. But when a childhood friend disappears, Odd discovers something worse than a dead body and embarks on a heart-stopping battle of will and wits with an enemy of exceptional cunning. In the hours to come there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope.

You’re invited on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror and transcendence to wonders beyond imagining. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

I agree with every one of the positive reviews for this book! I hope other fans of the series, the first book, in particular, won’t think I’m crazy for revealing that I almost liked this one more than the first one. When it comes to horror stories and thrillers, this is my favorite kind of plot! Strange, sinister events unfold that lead Odd to discover that his childhood friend has been kidnapped. The captive’s life depends on Odd courageously making his way to the creepy, dilapidated hotel and casino where his friend is being held. Once there, he must outwit three of the smartest, most evil, most ruthless villains he’s ever encountered. This will require him to free his friend from his bonds, hide him elsewhere in the hotel, and then embark on his deadly, terrifying cat-and-mouse game of running and hiding throughout the dark, decrepit maze of hallways and rooms that make up the large hotel until he can find a way to defeat his nightmarish adversaries! Forever Odd is a fantastic book, a thrilling sequel to Dean Koontz’s classic shocker! I couldn’t wait to read the third book, and I don’t blame other Koontz/Odd fans for feeling the same way after this one! I’ve also read the third book, Brother Odd, which I recommend just as highly as this book! To readers who haven’t read this series yet, you don’t just have to take my word for it. I understand anyone who says: “I don’t want to read his series; I like Koontz’s books, but I like stand-alone books best.” Take any other fan’s advice: The Odd Thomas series definitely takes you on a ride worth taking! I give this and the other books I have read 5 👻👻👻👻👻!

Sadly this second book in the Odd Thomas series just didn’t do it for me. Instead of looking forward to getting back to reading it (like a good book will make you feel) I had to force myself to finish it. I found the plot weak, with uninteresting characters and without giving too much away, for me personally, there was just way to much of the claustrophobic crawling around and boring internal musings and chatter and not enough scary, dark and creepy action. I may give Odd one more try with the 3rd book (I really liked the first one) but sadly I’ve got to put him away for awhile.

I really enjoyed the suspense, but sometimes it can be too descriptive for my liking. Great characters and plot though. Can't wait to read the next one!

This book was great. As well written as the first if not better. I read it in less than a day and now I'm on to the next in the series.

Many Odd fans felt that this book was a huge step backwards for the series, and I understand where they are coming from. When compared to the first book, Forever includes far fewer interactions with the characters we came to love in Odd Thomas. This was more of a "one man" suspense thriller. I still felt as though I was on a journey with Odd, but the hallways and corridors became repetitive over time. The main adversary was uniquely twisted, but other than that, there were hardly any memorable characters. I like the series and enjoyed this book enough to still recommend the Odd universe to a friend.
