A Map of Days reveals Ransom Riggs at the peak of his powers, leaving loyal fans ravenous for more.” –NY Journal of Books

Having defeated the monstrous threat that nearly destroyed the peculiar world, Jacob Portman is back where his story began, in Florida. Except now Miss Peregrine, Emma, and their peculiar friends are with him, and doing their best to blend in. But carefree days of beach visits and normalling lessons are soon interrupted by a discovery—a subterranean bunker that belonged to Jacob’s grandfather, Abe.

Clues to Abe’s double-life as a peculiar operative start to emerge, secrets long hidden in plain sight. And Jacob begins to learn about the dangerous legacy he has inherited—truths that were part of him long before he walked into Miss Peregrine’s time loop.

Now, the stakes are higher than ever as Jacob and his friends are thrust into the untamed landscape of American peculiardom—a world with few ymbrynes, or rules—that none of them understand. New wonders, and dangers, await in this brilliant next chapter for Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children. Their story is again illustrated by haunting vintage photographs, now with the striking addition of full-color images interspersed throughout for this all-new, multi-era American adventure.

The book was to boring for me to finish and the story line was bland it did’t really like the only reason I got to the fourth book 📖 is because it want to finish a series before going on to the next but i couldn’t😒.

I had to stop reading this toward the end because I wanted to remember the series for... well, not this. It starts out great, and for the first half it’s absolutely flawless. Jacob and Emma were going through a bit of a struggle(with her and Abe’s relationship, this is expected), but they’re still awesome together and the characters are more or less the same people, give or take some PTSD. The trouble hits when they enter the past through a loop, Emma takes the opportunity to say goodbye to Abe over the phone, and Jacob flips his lid and dumps her. Take this with a grain of salt(I’m 14), but WHAT THE HECK DUDE!!! The entire series up until this was telling us that they were freaking perfect for each other, and then BOOM!!! It sucked! They soon find another peculiar child who it is pretty clear is Jacob’s new love interest(like 12 hours after the big breakup) and there is no resolution to the story. I understand that it’s a cliffhanger, but at this level it should be part 1 and part 2 cause this is ridiculous. Another thing is the lack of Hollows, everyone’s favorite creepypasta. We have one little fight at the beginning(turns out this one is docile?) and Jacob feels one nearby for the ENTIRE BOOK, but we don’t get the gory descriptions and terrifying imagery that we’re all here for(don’t lie to yourself). AND COME ON STICK WITH EMMA DUDE YOU CAN GET OVER THIS!!! In conclusion, it’s your choice whether to read it or not. For diehard fans, I would suggest no, but for a casual read it’s a great book. I’m actually really sad it turned out this way, the concept for this book had so much potential. #EMMAFOREVER
  • Now that I’ve read it a bunch

This was a great book and all but there’s some things I didn’t like. For one, this book seems like it’s being oriented towards the movie. I’m sure you will note a few things that are odd. Another thing is that am I the only one who noticed that the way Enoch speaks has changed drastically over the course of these books? And lastly, why does Jacob act like Emma is ms. Perfect? He thinks Emma could pass as normal, Emma has the best American accent, Emma is most competent behind the wheel. I did not like Emma in this book too. I don’t like Emma in general but in this book she’s annoying. Jacob should end it with her 😤. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good book and I can’t wait for the next one. I liked Noors character. I liked that the peculiar children get to be with Jacob for forever now. But It just feels so different from the last three books. Idk though I mean this is just what I thought. ( this whole review was based off the 4 times I read the book😉)

Omg I absolutely LOVED this book! I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I am currently in the process of writing my newest fan fiction for this series! It’s called “Phoenix’s flame” and it’s about a young peculiar girl who’s half Phoenix who saves all of the U.S. from the 5 wight escapees, who have been secretly plotting against the peculiars, and Adalynn (half-Phoenix) just happens to find out. Your friend, who may or may not be watching from under your bed (go ahead, look), Carson Waida (A.k.a Adalynn Phoenix)

This book series is by far the best series i’ve ever read. The movie is nothing like the books, and as per usual the books are better. They are filled with cliff hangers, drama, and just a lot of interesting ideas. i thought i wouldn’t really like the book when i initially got it. But boy was i wrong. i read it every day after i finished my exams and got through it in like a week!! 10/10 do recommend!!!!

I don’t know how I feel about this book. I lean more toward the not liking it side. I mean I liked the book but I was disappointed too. Jacob is annoying and self centered the entire book. He’s disrespectful and it kind of made me not like him. He was a hero in the last book series and in this one he’s just...eh. I don’t like that he splits himself off from his friends and the ymbrynes. He is being a baby about his relationship with Emma. I understand the peculiar’s frustrations with the ymbrynes to an extent but not enough to go against them. I don’t know...I’m excited for the next book to come out because it can only go up since it ended on a very low note. Definitely wasn’t my favorite of the peculiar books.

Honestly, this book wasn't nearly as good as the other ones. I expected better. I mean, I love this series but I was disappointed by this one. At the end it leaves you off at a bad place, where Jacob is kinda abandoned. And the main quest of the book isn't very exciting. My recommendation is to wait for this book to come out on kindle or library. Decide if you like it before buying it. There were good parts in the book don't get me wrong, it just was disappointing.

This book exceeded my expectations. I was worried that the plot was going to be mediocre since Caul was killed but I was wrong. This book expands the peculiar universe in ways I did not expect. I just finished the book and I am saddened by the fact that I will have to wait 1-3 years for the next book to come out. A worthy successor to Library of Souls
